Idle Detection

Idle Detection

According to OSHA every year about 10,000 cardiac arrests happen at work. When a worker suffers a cardiac arrest or becomes unconscious, time is of the essence. You need to know immediately so you can get them the help they need. OnGuard’s Idle Detection is triggered when there is a period of stillness with the worker. It can be configured to alert after only 30 seconds or up to three minutes. Regular motion keeps the system from alerting so there’s no need to push any buttons.

Similar to Fall Detection, there are many situations where a person is not able to reach their phone or press a panic button to trigger an emergency alert such as a cardiac arrest or a stroke. In these situations, speed of help is critical as a minute longer without oxygen to the brain can cause further brain damage. OnGuard identified such situations and is able to send an automatic alert to the Emergency Response Team and other co-workers that might be close, clearly indicating that this alert was triggered through an Idle Detection, so automated external defibrillator (AED) can be brought to the person increasing the chance of survival significantly.

The OnGuard algorithms clearly distinguishes between someone passing out and a phone being placed on a table. Especially for those with certain conditions, this can be life-saving functionality. Idle Detection and Fall Detection in combination will ensure that the person won’t suffer any unrecognized incidents and that help will be provided immediately.
