Idle Detection
Idle Detection provides additional safety by automatically triggering an Emergency Alert when the app detects an extended period of motionlessness. This article explains how to turn this feature on.
How does Idle Detection work?
This valuable feature utilizes specialized hardware sensors and dedicated firmware that are standard in most mobile devices. The app detects if the phone has been just placed on a table or if a person has actually tilted over. Sensitivity and idle time can be adjusted to avoid false positives.
When an Idle is detected, a countdown timer will pop-up on the screen allowing the user to ‘Send Now’ or ‘Cancel’. If neither “Send now” or “Cancel” are selected within the countdown timer limits, an Emergency Alert is initiated. The default countdown timer is set to 15 seconds.
Activating Idle Detection from the Command Portal
To enable the Idle Detection feature from the Command Portal, go to the User, Click on the Hamburger Button > User Properties > Settings and move the Idle Detection switch to ON. Click ‘Save’ to apply the changes. You have further options to configure this feature by changing the sensitivity, required idle duration before the alert is triggered or ignoring potential cases like a worker leaving the phone on the table. Click ‘Save’ at the bottom after you made any changes. |

Adjusting sensitivity for Idle Detection
Sensitivity can be adjusted for Fall Detection or Idle Detection. High sensitivity makes it more likely to trigger, Low sensitivity makes it less likely and helps prevent false alarms. Normally, the Idle Detection Alert will cancel itself once you move the phone (indicating you are ok).
